It's our day in court on Movies for Life as Michele and Brian discuss their favorite courtroom movies! First is the second Sidney Lumet film discussed on the show with Brian's pick of THE VERDICT from 1982, starring the incomparable Paul Newman. Then they get into what is arguably the best depiction of a trial on film with Michele's pick of Otto Preminger's 1959 masterpiece, ANATOMY OF A MURDER, starring Jimmy Stewart, Lee Remick, Ben Gazzara, and George C. Scott! (Again, content warning for this half of the episode - take care of yourselves.) Our exploration of the Forever Favorites movies chosen in the first episode of the show continues with this in-depth look at the two most horror-centric movies on each of our lists. First up, Brian talks about his love for all things Universal monsters, and especially with his personal favorite, James Whale's THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN from 1935! Then we get a twist on the murder mystery whodunit tale with Michele's pick - Henri-Georges Clouzot's French thriller LES DIABOLIQUE (1955)! As usual, there is no lack of gushing about these two incredible movies, so enjoy the discussion (and make sure you watch DIABOLIQUE before listening if you haven't seen it yet)!

We're going back to the well of movies in the Films About Filmmaking category and looking at two movies that are about the makings of fake movies. And the two couldn't be more different! First, Brian brings in a stone-cold classic not just of movie musicals but of movies in general with 1952's SINGIN' IN THE RAIN! Then we flash all the way to 2017 for the brilliant, funny, and immensely heartfelt ONE CUT OF THE DEAD. Trust us, these movies work better together than you might think at first! As life-long horror fans, one of our favorite subgenres is the creature feature, and today we get to talk about two of the best ones out there! And the movies we picked ended up being first-time watches for both hosts! First, Brian introduces Michele to the wide world of kaiju with the granddaddy of creature features, the original GODZILLA (aka GOJIRA) from 1954! Then Michele shows Brian how much she loves graboids, Burt Gummer, and the bromance of Val and Earl in 1990's TREMORS! It's a great conversation with both of gushing about our faves, while the other person finds a new favorite as well. Enjoy!

Things get a little more deep and personal (but still fun!) on this episode of Movies For Life as Brian and Michele talk about their picks for Not Really Comic Book Movies. These are films where the creation of certain comic books are an important part of the story, but, as you'll find out in our discussion, are not really what makes them both so important to the hosts. The first movie up this week is from Brian and it is the truly unique, funny and heartwarming AMERICAN SPLENDOR (2003). Then from Michele, the two discuss the importance of queer representation (and so much more!) with PROFESSOR MARSTON AND THE WONDER WOMEN (2017)! Michele and Brian also have a quick discussion about their top 5 favorite movie discoveries from 2020!

In the first episode of a topic we will be returning to in the future - Films About Filmmaking - we are looking at movies about the making of a real movie! This is probably our best double feature so far with our picks of SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE (2000) from Brian and ED WOOD (1994) from Michele! With endlessly quotable comedic dialogue and stellar performances, these movies were a joy to revisit and discuss!
